They, much like running are both very effective forms of exercise and great methods to become more coordinated and healthy, however it can be dangerous if you are a beginner. Flipping bikes over and falling off of them onto curbs can be big issues for adults and little ones alike. Knee pads and elbow pads should be worn for beginner bike riders and anytime you may be riding on rough terrain.
The last portion of staying clear of any sports related injuries is to always stay hydrated. Any people commonly mistake being dehydrated during any form of exercise as part of being in a warm environment or only when they are sweating quite a bit. These are not the only times when your body needs to be hydrated though, even when exercising in very frigid temperatures you must drink water and any other sports drinks that may help keep you hydrated. Always try to eat something healthy before and especially after you exercise and stretching prior and just after exercise is vital. Stretching before and after will not only prevent injuries, but it will make you more flexible and help build stronger muscle tissue as well. Be smart when exercising, do not go our running in the snow if you do not have on proper footwear, things to that nature.
